Hove Festival 2014

Hovefestivalen mixes international acts with Norwegian bands in a unique setting on an island outside Arendal city. The event lasts five days with the sun only setting for two hours each night. The dates for 2014 are Sunday 29th June until Thursday 3rd July.
The first acts confirmed are Oliver Heldens, Pretty Lights, Banks, Foster The People, Martin Garrix, Memphis May Fire, Earl Sweatshirt, Chance the Rapper, Ellie Goulding, M.I.A., John Newman, Bastille, The Offspring, Disclosure, Of Mice & Men, Azealia Banks, Bring Me The Horizon, Trentemoller, Savant, Lars Vaular, Lemaitre, Pusha T, Laleh, Skambankt, and The 1975.
Besides the music there s art installations, scenes, yet-to-be-released movies and ecological food.
Tickets are priced at 2770 NOK (approx £276). There will only be a limited number of 1 day passes available because the primary focus of the festival is the complete experience, not a series of concerts.
Those wanting to camp at the festival will also need to purchase a camping pass. A camping pass will give admission to the festival campsites and a camping place. Festival goers will be issued with a separate camping wristband at the festival and this will only be given to people who have purchased a Campingpass and either a Festivalpass or a Dagspass. You will not be allowed in the festival campsite if you only have a Campingpass. There will be no separate tent passes and you will not need a tent sticker. In order to accommodate everybody in safety and comfort organisers request that you please bring a tent which is designed for the number of people sleeping in it. There is also a quiet camping area.
Hovefestivalen tries to set new standards for environmental awareness and campers must sign eco-contract that promises not to leave a single footprint behind. There is also a multimedia seminar where environmentally aware artists will meet with eco-activist politicians to discuss the future of the earth. There will be ongoing train and bike campaigns throughout the festival, and a hydrogen boat showcase.
The festival was the first music festival in the world to join UNEP s (United nations Enviroment Programme) Climate Neutral Network (CN Net). CN Net is a new UN-led initiative in the fight against climate change, as UNEP wants Hove to take the lead in a European network of climate friendly rock festivals. The thought is that rock festivals could create a new blueprint for carbon neutrality in the entertainment business.
The natural surroundings/green scenery as much a part of the festival as the music. Since its inception in 2007, the Hove Festival has focused on green issues like carbon neutrality, recycling and energy from alternative and renewable sources. More information will be here when available.
