Vintage By The Sea 2014
Vintage Festival returns for a second year to Morecambe this time over 2 days on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September 2014 to Morecambeâ€™s seafront.For one glamorous weekend the music, fashion, film, art,Â design and dance from the 1920s to the 1980s that has made Britain theÂ worldâ€™s creative and cultural hot bed will be celebrated.
A weekend of free entertainment including dancing, music, fashion, glamour, film, classic cars, delicious street food, creative workshops, kidâ€™s activities, street theatre, a vintage fairground, vintage bus tours and up-cycled market place to browse vintage treasures. Join in with a vintage cycle ride or enter the Vintage Pooch Parade! On Saturday 6th September a Lancaster Bomber will also perform a fly past of the festival.
The first acts confirmed are DJs Mike Pickering, Dave Haslam, and Jack Hemingway.Â Â
Tickets prices vary from from free to paid for events.Â The weekendâ€™s programme will provide a free festival of entertainment for localÂ residents and visitors to the town to experience one of the most unique placesÂ to celebrate all things vintage.
In addition to the free programme, this year will see the return of some of theÂ popular ticketed events including The Torch Club, a night ofÂ 1930s and 40s glamour and afternoon tea at the Midland Hotel.
A night of Northern Soul, funk and disco at The Soul Casino, a night of dance from the 80s and 90s at The Warehouse set in Morecambeâ€™s Winter Gardens and a celebration of all things Rock N Roll with Let it Rock at theÂ Platform.
Morecambeâ€™s seafront will provide the backdrop and be transformed into a multi-venue playground where, visitors can â€˜learn the dancesâ€™, take in specially curated live performances, exclusive DJ sets, catwalk shows, vintage fashion and homewares shopping in the Vintage Marketplace, hair and beauty makeovers in the Vintage Salon, fashion parades plus art and design workshops.
There will be evocative street food, themed dining and cocktails, classic vehicles, film, classic cars, creativeÂ workshops, kidâ€™s activities, street theatre, a vintage fairground, vintage bus tours, and more.
New events for this year include a vintage cycle ride and a Vintage Pooch Parade, and on Saturday 6th the RAF has also confirmed that a Lancaster Bomber will perform a fly past of the festival.
The festival organisers are calling on local people and businesses to get involved to make it bigger and better than last year. They are looking for local artists, vintage traders, classic vehicle owners, market & food stallholders and community groups to contact them to be involved.
Local crafters are also on the wish list to help advise and run creative classes and workshops so that visitors can learn a new skill or develop a creative talent or revive an old one.
