Wakestock 2014

The festival is now called Wakestock Gwyl Y Mor (Festival Of The Sea) and sees the existing annual festival, now in it s 15th year that features music and wakeboarding from around the globe, return to its roots celebrating all that is great and good about its home, the Llyn Peninsula, Cardigan Bay.
Right next to the beach, as well as featuring a competition for the wakeboard title, there are live bands and DJ s for three nights. The dates for the 15th Wakestock are confirmed as Friday 11th until Sunday 13th July 2014, and will be held at Penrhos, Pwllheli, in North Wales.
Latest additions are We Are Animal, Heal the Last Stand, Freedom Sound, Casi Wyn, Sparrowhawks, Gwybdaith Hen Fran, Candeals, I Fight Lions, The Delta Academy Choir, spoken word fromThe Absurd and comedian Jonathan Williams.

A 4 day weekend camping ticket is priced at £150, a weekend ticket without camping is priced at £115 and a 3 day camping option is also available priced at £140. Camparvan, parking and day tickets are not yet available. Girls only, quiet, £50 deposit, and bespoke camping options are also available. Ticket prices do not include booking fees.
Note: The minimum age limit is 12. At the festival site anyone aged under 16 must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 25 to get access to the festival site or campsites, and your accompanying adult must be with you when you enter the campsites or arena on site, or when you leave the festival.
One of the main tents will open for campers on Thursday night and will be hosting a pre-party. Entry to this party is included in any of the Thursday arrival camping tickets.
The festival are offering the chance to come to the site during the day and experience all that it has to offer for £5 for adults, with the option to upgrade tickets to stay all night if it appeals, and kids under the age of 10 get in free.
Organisers want everyone who lives in this amazing area of North Wales to be able to get involved and enjoy all that the festival has on offer, and for the first time this year they will be offering discounted tickets to residents in the immediate vicinity of the site.
Local resident tickets are only available to people living in the following postal codes:
LL53 5, LL53 7, LL53 6, LL53 8.
Local Resident Tickets are priced as follows: Weekend Camping £70, Weekend Camping Thursday Arrival £75, and Weekend Ticket £57.50.
These tickets are either available from Newsplus in Pwllheli or online on the official site. If bought in Newsplus the resident has to take a utility bill with them when purchasing tickets which is from a property within the postcode area listed above, and some form of photographic ID.
Wakestock welcomes people with special needs. Please call the Wakestock Ticketline on 01758 741095 before the event to book your tickets and they will send an information pack before the event with all the details.
The festival will also showcase the best in local music, comedy, poetry, arts and food and drink from across Wales. This year the daytime programme will be filled with activities for the whole family including workshops, the fairground, art installations, entertainment and activities for all ages.
This year there will be a full programme of things going on during the day on the festival site with the addition of an artisan market, local ales festival, brand new kid’s area, funfair and live music throughout the day.
The festival site has all the facilities you would expect from a major festival with three main stages, a number of smaller stages, food and drink available all weekend, extensive camping areas, parking onsite, a funfair, market stalls and loads of activities and workshops for you to get involved in.
The evenings will see the addition of extra stage and more music to suit all tastes and ages. Look out for loads of announcements over the coming months!
There will be three days of full on wakeboarding action with the pro qualifier at Pwllheli Marina on Friday evening and boat comp final on Sunday morning. Sandwiched in between this is Big Air Competition on Saturday on Abersoch Main beach. Plus the Wakestock Rail Europeans will be taking place at Glasfryn Wake Park on Friday and Sunday afternoon
Wakestock are working with local surf and wake academy Off Axis who will be running have a go wakeboard & wakesurf sessions all weekend. They will also be running SUP (Stand up Paddleboard) sessions, and Pro Rider Clinics. The Mystic Big Air competition is one of the highlights of the weekend’s competitions – the riders are towed through the water and hit a kicker which is only metres from the shoreline, it’s a really simple format – biggest trick wins!
There’s a whole day of activities taking place on Abersoch Beach this year with the first Off Axis Beach Olympics from 10am on Saturday. There will be beach football, SUP fancy dress races, tug of war, beach volleyball, slackline sessions and a the beach café will be hosting a big beach BBQ on Abersoch Beach.
This year look out for a line up which places the music industry spotlight firmly on the emerging talent that Wales has to offer the world. The festival will be showcasing music, comedy and more from Wales and beyond. Camping is next to the festival site and is available from Thursday (from 5pm) to Sunday (until 5pm). Booking fee applies. Camping is limited so it is better to book well in advance as space runs out quickly.
The festival has a Quiet Camping area with a strict quiet policy that comes into effect at 11pm each evening. Set next to the sea in 10 acre field, it benefits from being out of the main run of festival traffic and yet still close to the car park, with a view overlooking Cardigan Bay. The festival site will be just over a 5 minute walk and the beach only 2 minutes away.
The event also offers a female only camping area away from the hustle and bustle of the main campsite? Camp G offers the chance to camp with girlfriends in a female only campsite, completely separate from the main campsite for no extra charge. You simply need to buy a weekend camping ticket for the festival and then register for Camp G in advance.
Courtesy buses usually run all weekend between the music site at Penrhos, the wakeboard competitions and Abersoch, Pwllheli and Nefyn, so those who live locally who don t want to camp will still be able to get home. More information will be here when available.
